- Research Interest
Entrepreneurial training transfer as a moderator to determinants of entrepreneurs' success among Small and
Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs) owners in Lagos State, Nigeria: The research shall concentrate on the dimension of personal qualities, management competencies and environmental munificence factors as determinants of entrepreneurial performance in the context of Nigeria using a quantitative approach. The objective of the research shall include determining the moderating effect of training transfer on the relationship between personal qualities, management competencies and environmental munificence factors on entrepreneurial performance in Lagos State, Nigeria by concentrating on manufacturing small and medium scale enterprises (SMEs).
- Research in Progress
- Empirical Evidence on the Relationship between Business Competencies and Entrepreneurial Performance in Nigeria
This study examines the relationship between business competencies and entrepreneurial performance among the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) owners in Lagos State, Nigeria. Thus, to achieve the research objectives this study employed cross-sectional research design with the adoption of survey method. The collected data were analysed using Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) to show the degree of correlation between the multiple variables under study. The structural path reveals statistical insignificant of human resource competency on entrepreneurial performance at (? = .049, CR = .741, p = .459). The financial competency on entrepreneurial performance is insignificant (? = -.023, CR = -.356. p = .722) while operational competency did not contributed significantly to entrepreneurial performance (? = .008, CR = .122, p = .903). However, the structural model further indicated that marketing competencies has contributed significantly to entrepreneurial performance (? =
.148, CR = 2.181, p = .029). The researcher concludes that there is a partial significant relationship between business competencies and entrepreneurial performance. The study recommended that the individual-organisation characteristics such as knowledge, skills, and abilities are required to perform a specific job perfectly at the organisational level (e.g. human resource competency, marketing competency, financial management competency, and operational management competency). Therefore, the entrepreneurial training agencies can take a clue from this study finding when designing entrepreneurial training curriculum with effective state-of-the-art facilities by taking into consideration functional business competencies.
- MODERATING EFFECT OF TRAINING TRANSFER ON THE DETERMINANTS OF ENTREPRENEURIAL PERFORMANCE AMONG MICRO, SMALL AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISES (MSMEs) OWNERS IN LAGOS STATE, NIGERIA
This study examines the moderating effect of training transfer on the determinants of entrepreneurial performance among micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) owners in Lagos State, Nigeria. The study adopted a quantitative approach using a cross-sectional descriptive survey while Cochran (1977) formula for sample size determination was used to calculate for the sample size. Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) approach and Multi- Group Analysis are utilised to test the stated research hypothesis. Prior to full utilisation of the model, the researcher ensure the model meet the acceptable goodness-of-fit indices: X2 (CMIN) = 387.238 (DF = 196), Relative X2 (CMIN/DF) = 1.976, AGFI = .870, GFI = .899,
CFI = .939, IFI = .939, TLI = .928 and RMSEA = .056. The structural model revealed that the relationship between personal qualities, business competencies, and environmental factors are moderated by training transfer in the study with measurement residual X2 greater than unconstrained X2 based on model comparison output ?X2 (CMIN) = 140.931; ?df = 57; p =
.000. Therefore, there is a presence of moderation effect of training transfer on the determinants of entrepreneurial performance in the overall model.
- WORKPLACE SPIRITUALITY AND ORGANIZATIONAL CITIZENSHIP BEHAVIOUR AMONG NIGERIAN ACADEMICS: THE MEDIATING ROLE OF NORMATIVE ORGANIZATIONAL COMMITMENT
The research reported in this paper examined the mediating role of normative organizational commitment on the relationship that exists between workplace spirituality and organizational citizenship behavior amongst academics at some selected Nigerian Universities. A non- experimental research design was adopted utilizing the quantitative and correlational methods. With the aid of the convenience sampling technique, 350 questionnaires were distributed at an equal proportion to academic staffs at two Nigerian public universities. Three hundred and thirty-one questionnaires were retrieved, of which 328 were found usable for analyses in the study. Three hypotheses were proposed and tested using inferential statistics with the aid of SPSS version 20 and the IBM SPSS AMOS version 22. The outcomes of the study brought to the fore that, there exists a statistical significant and positive relationship between workplace spirituality and normative organizational commitment. Correspondingly, a strong and positive relationship was found between normative organizational commitment and organizational citizenship behavior. Finally, a partial mediating influence of normative organizational commitment was established on the workplace spirituality and organizational citizenship behavior relationship. Conclusively, this study recommended that, universities management should recognize workplace spirituality for the attainment of normative commitment to foster more organizational citizenship behavior among the academics.
