Prof. Dr. Christopher Oyat

Prof. Dr. Christopher Oyat currently lectures at the famous public university called Gulu University for over 16 years where he serves as a Senior Lecturer. However, Prof. Oyat started his career in 1992 when he was appointed as Town Clerk by the central government of Uganda; then proceed to work as Human Resources and Organizational Development Advisor of ACORD (British-based charity); and finally settling as Lecturer. The above implies that he has so far worked uninterrupted for more than 26 years. To this extent, Prof Dr. Christopher Oyat brings in the world of academia, deeply rooted professional industry-based knowledge, skills, and experience which are crucial in our contemporary work environment for students.

Prof. Oyat is an appointed Adjunct Distinguished University Professor of Management and Business Research at Ballsbridge University; an Honorable Fellow of Board of Quality Standards (FBQS hon.); a Fellow of Institute of Chartered Professionals (FICP); a reputable and supportive Ph.D. Thesis Reviewer at Ballsbridge University; a panelist in evaluating candidates for the award of Professorship at Ballsbridge University; a Global Advisory Board Member of the University; and Adjunct Professor at Prowess University, Delaware-USA.

He holds a Ph.D. in Management from the Business University of Costa Rica (UNEM); a Doctor of Science (Ad Eundem degree) from Ballsbridge University; a Doctor of Letters from St Clements University (Turks & Caicos Island); and an Honorary Ph.D. in Management from IIC University of Technology (Cambodia). He obtained his Bachelor’s degree from Makerere University and a Master's of Development Studies from Uganda Martyrs University.

Prof Dr. Christopher Oyat has published over 42 articles in journals; conducted over 15 consultancies in the form of seminars, workshops, and meetings; attended and actively participated in over 5 international conferences; has successfully supervised over 33 postgraduate students to completion; successfully supervised over 140 undergraduate research works of students in Gulu University; contributed to the development of a Ph.D. program of Gulu University; has been recognized as an excellent, committed and diligent lecturer in Gulu University as demonstrated by an accumulation of 22 certificates of appreciation bestowed upon because of his distinguished services to the students of Gulu University; a known supporter of holistic education which encompasses appreciating the values of formal, informal and non-formal forms of learning. This is in line with United Nations Sustainable Development Goal number 4 (UN SDG). Moreover, this concern underscores and underpins the SIX principles enunciated in “UNESCO Guidelines for the Recognition, Validation, and Accreditation of the Outcomes of Non –Formal and Informal Learning” (2012 pp 3-6). Principle number TWO of this document emphasizes the need for:

“promoting the equal value of learning outcomes of formal, informal, and non-formal learning. Competences that every individual has accumulated through non-formal and informal should be treated on a par with those that are obtained through formal learning.”

In a sense, Prof. Dr. Christopher Oyat is a strong supporter, believer, and champion of inclusive and equitable education for all as ratified and promulgated by UNESCO and UN ECOSOC. He is a valuable internationally recognized academician with proven and tested professionalism.
